This past Friday night at The Kensington was a truly special occasion as the Volunteer Network on Aging (VNA) launched Dementia Friendly Galesburg with the assistance of Knox County TRIAD. It was an honor to be part of this significant event, where so many passionate individuals gathered to support the initiative.
As the keynote speaker, I had the privilege of addressing an attentive and engaged audience, sharing insights from The Alzheimer’s Experience. I was humbled by the opportunity to contribute to such an important cause and to help raise awareness for dementia and Alzheimer’s care in our community.
It was wonderful to connect with so many new people who are dedicated to supporting Knox County seniors and those with disabilities. Special thanks to the VNA staff—Michael, Walker, Jacqueline, and the rest of the team—for their hospitality and hard work in making this event a success. Their unwavering dedication to improving the lives of those 60 and older in our community is truly inspiring.
I was also grateful for the presence of IL State Rep Dan Swanson, who joined us to show his support for this meaningful cause.
If you’re looking for resources for seniors or disabled individuals in Knox County, I highly encourage you to check out the VNA’s services. They are doing incredible work to make Galesburg a more inclusive and supportive place for all.
Thank you again to everyone who attended and contributed to the event. Let’s continue working together to make our community Dementia Friendly.
